I'll walk you through the TranscribeMe exam and test and the full application process.You'll see the requirements needed to pass, and also see proof of me passing the exam in the end of the video. I'll give you some tips on how to use the style guide to be on your way to becoming a paid transcriptionist.

Now that you've registered, the first step is to complete the entrance exam in the language in which you wish to transcribe.
The English Entrance Exam consists of a series of questions and transcription audios. Once you are successful in passing this exam, you will join our general transcription team who complete short, sliced chunks which are then reviewed by a QA.
I'm going to scroll down there and as you can see the majority of these exams are not available. But luckily English Entrance Exam is available. Click on Check Exam Info.
English Entrance Exam :
This exam is formerly known as the English Transcriber Skills Assessment Exam.
Please read the documents linked below carefully before attempting the exam. Everything you need to pass the exam is included in these two documents.

Look at the first guide we have a 39 Page guide to read this is a lot of reading this will give you first they have the index which is great it's clean verbatim is what we're doing all right so there's a lot of information to go through here and the seconds one English exam instruction PDF there 14 pages this one there you can see some requirements you have to be 18 years of age or older all right I haven't read these through yet but I'm going to kind of read them as we're going through the exam so let's click this box there once complete and now we're ready to click attempt the exam. we have three different sections there we've got the multiple-choice samples sentences.
Part of the exam being able to follow directions please make sure that you read each questions carefully follow the directions below for writing your answers. Formatting your answer incorrectly may result in a failed attempt. Note that the questions will appear in random order each time you take this test, and "your results will be randomized on the Exam Results page you see upon completing the exam. "This means that, should you fall one or more questions, you will not know which questions they were.
You will be asked to complete 3 multiple choice questions in this section pertaining to TranscribeMe's Basic Clean Verbatim style. This means that you will need to read and understand pages 4 to 21 of the Style Guide. You must pass each question with 100% to pass the section.
For multiple choice questions where you are instructed to write A,B or C, please write the answer as a Capital letter. Do not put a Space or punctuation behind the letter.

You have to type A,B,C and D which one is the right way to say this. Once you've done that you can Click Next.
Crutch Words :
A crutch word or phrase is an utterance that a speaker consistently uses that does not add meaning to what is being said. They are usually used a speaker is searching for a thought or deciding how to properly express what he or she is trying to say. Some speakers use Crutch words as verbal tics, Which can render a transcript difficult to read. Common examples are like, you know, right, kind of, and sort of. Always remove like and you know when they do not add meaning to the sentence.
So, you know , if the speaker , like, talks like this, then, you know, please, like,remove the crutch words to make it, you know, like, readable.
Click Next Again.
Audio - A:
In total, you will complete three audio clips in this exam, each of which is around four minutes long. These clips will come up in random order each time you take the exam, and you may not receive the same audio for each attempt. "Note that the passing rates for these audios vary."
Transcribe each audio in TranscribeMe's Clean Verbatim style using American English. DO NOT insert speaker IDs or timestamps.
You must complete one audio clip in this section, Audio - A. Be sure to FINISH this audio, i..e.., complete your transcription then hit the Next BUTTON to submit your results, before leaving the exam to come back later. Otherwise, you will likely lose any partial work completed on the audio. See the instructions guide in the Check Exam Info Page for details on how the Save Feature works.
Please transcribe the following audio in accordance with Tm's Basic Clean Verbatim Style Guide, using American English.
Start the file with a lowercase letter, unless the word is a proper noun, and do not end your file with punctuation.
Remember that our system will NOT save your incomplete text. You must COMPLETE the audio, hitting Next to submit your final answer and move on to the next session, before exiting the exam to finish later. We are unable recover unfinished audios.
Make sure to listen and type in the audio and I once done that we can Click Next Again.
Audio - C:
You just finished the Audio - C then click Next.
Style Guide Questions :

There will be a total of 10 questions in this section pertaining to TranscribeMe's Basic Clean Verbatim style. This means that you will need to read and understand pages 4 to 21 of the Style Guide. The questions will be True/False, Multiple Choice, or a short answer. You must Pass all 10 questions with 100% to pass the exam.
If the answer is True or False, write out the full word, True or False, in the box below. Make sure you capitalize the first letter and do not put any punctuation after,

For multiple choice questions where you are instructed to write A, B, or C, please write the answer as a capital letter. Do not put a space or punctuation behind the letter.
Once you can put your answer you can Click Next.

I have passed the test with 100% in Multiple Choice questions.
Audio - A passed with 98.96% Accuracy.
Audio - B passed with 98.54% Accuracy.
Audio - C passed with 99.17% Accuracy.
Style guide passed with 100% Accuracy.
You go ahead and Click the Complete Exam.
Instructions :
Retries :
The number of tries you've used will be listed under the Retries of Maximum Possible heading, and you will see this for each section of the exam.
If you have not yet used your second try for a section, a link labeled Retry will be displayed under the Retry Heading. Clicking this link will return you to that section of the exam.
Do not Retry sections that are displayed in green/passing in an effort to get a higher percentage score overall.
After your Second Failed Attempt :
If you do not pass the exam, don't despair ! You can return to us after a 30-day Period to try again. The exam will then be reset and you will have two more attempts at that time.
Passing the Exam :
Once you have passed each question of the exam within the same attempt you will have passed the exam !
IMPORTANT : Make sure that you hit the Complete Exam button so that your passing grade can be registered in our system.
Being Accepted to TranscribeMe :
At this Stage, one of our training officers will review your application. It is at this point that a photo ID may be requested if one is not currently present on your account.
Once your application is fully processed , your account will be activated within 2-3 business days of taking the exam, so there is no waiting around on a waiting list.
Final thoughts :
Basically because I passed the exam now I just wait for them to activate my account within two to three business days and they will potentially ask for a photo ID just to verify Who I am overall I don't think that this transcription test was extremely difficult it was a lot of work because you have three different transcription tasks and they're about I think it's four minutes each so that's 12 minutes of transcribing and it is a lot of work just make sure to go through the Style Guide. Basically now I have passed the exam I just have to wait until they activate my account and then I can start taking jobs.
